oh my how time flies
i was watching the telly this morning and 'gasp' mmmbop was on.. on classic mtv non the less!! yeeeshh.. been that long already? it seems only yesterday that i bought their CD in Price Smart which even now has changed name to something else...
wow. i remembered that my first time searching the net was on these guys, how i practically beg my friend to tag along to their Press Conference and from then on I became quite close to the girls in my church. I remembered the look on those girls' faces when I gave them all my posters ... I remembered my friend Mia in Canada and Becka (a mother of two!!) who i became friends with. I remembered embarrassing my friend Tre at a CD store when I kinda screamed when I saw a Hanson' tape that I've been waiting for was on the shelf. LOLOL.. those were fun days...
today, Zac has huge muscley arms, Taylor has married (gasp again) and yet, I'm still waiting for their new CD to come out. I'm loyal you see.. he he he ;-)
Here's something on 'em (from HansonHotel.com)
Hanson are mentioned in the EW article - What are 2002's Musical Anniversaries?. Music critic, David Browne, lists off some moments in music history that matter to him. Hanson's segment reads:
The Fifth Anniversary of ''MMM Bop.'' Now that teen pop is receding, it's worth noting when the flood began. By 1997, alt rock had been reduced to pathetic Kurt Cobain knockoffs, and it was time to rediscover the pleasures of a pop hook. To our rescue came three eager-to-please brothers from Tulsa, whose first and biggest hit, an irrepressible sunshine-day of a song, boomed from radios all summer. The Spice Girls had arrived a few months before, but ''MMM Bop'' indicated an actual movement might be afoot. How we got from there to Britney being booed in Mexico is another saga entirely, but for now, let's relive the days when pop didn't mean lipsynching and rigid choreography.
There is a small article on Hanson in the August 2002 Issue of Teen Beat.
Hanson Hunting for Perfect Pop
It seems like we've been waiting forever to hear some new pop tunes from the Hanson sweeties. But they wanted their third CD to be nothing but the best, so Taylor, Isaac and Zac took their time and hooked up with some of the most talented writers around. For inspiration, the boys took part in a songwriting roundtable at a French castle with Barenaked Ladies, Fastball, Semisonic and Carole King (ask your mom about her!). After months of writing and recording more than 30 songs, the brothers are really excited about their new disc. (We're told they're thisclose to finishing it up.) Although This Time Around didn't do as well as they'd hoped, Hanson are confident they still have what it takes to "MMMBop" up the charts. "I want people to hear the name Hanson and think credible, musical, creative music. That's what people should think 'cause that's what it is - it's just about the music," says Taylor. We definitely think this Hanson album will be their best yet.
